The Sun

I love to work with the Tarot and one thing I have started doing this year is consciously choosing a card to focus on and embody in the month ahead.

For June I have chosen the Sun, number 19 out of the 21 Major Arcana.

The Sun is a card of celebration and often comes up when people have recently been through a challenging time. It reminds us after darkness, without fail, the sun rises again. If you have been through a difficult time, the Sun shows us not to forget everything we have and allow ourselves to celebrate how far we have come.

In the calendar year in the Northern Hemisphere, June is the point the Sun is at is highest and most potent. The Sun is an energy source and in June we have the most amount of daylight in the year. We have great conditions on our side to create any changes that may require a little more energy and we may even notice we may not need quite as much sleep as normal.

The Sun is a symbol of joy and celebration. It’s time to just remember how far you have come and its a great oppertunity to see your resilience through the winter and the Spring. Its a reminder to check in and look at all your acheivements.

On the traditional Rider Waite (Smith) Tarot deck, there is a depiction of a Naked Child rising a Horse which symbolises purity and unabashadly being yourself. We can often play small and hide our true selves from the rest of the world for fear of judgement , but its time to celebrate without feeling you have to be covert. Celebrate yourself - do something for you that makes you feel good, whether it is getting up early and enjoying quiet time alone reading your book, or throwing a celebration with family, friends and neighbours just because its the summer.

Many people believe in the Law of Attraction. This theory is that everything vibrates at a frequency and like attracts like. Therefore you feel joyful and positive, you will attract joyful and positive things into your life.

Take a moment to write down everything that makes you happy. It could be anything- people, hobbies, habits, rituals, posessions. Look at your daily plan and see where you can slot them in. Start purposly bringing happiness into your life- dont hope or wait for it to come. Do this practice daily for the whole month of June, an notice how you feel at the end of the month. Were there any changes? What good happened this month?

Wishing you a month of celebration and happiness
